St. John's Military School Accreditation
Academics at St. John's Military School are at the forefront of our focus. Because of this emphasis on academics, the school's accreditation is vital to our mission. St. John's is accredited by two distinct and respectable agencies: The Kansas State Department of Education and AdvancEd, a division of the North Central Association (NCA) This dual accreditation insures constant reflection and improvement as a whole school by measuring not only academic performance but quality of staff and student life.
St. John's Military School is one of the few military schools in the nation accredited by a state's education department. To meet the Kansas State Department of Education's (KSDE) criteria schools must meet expectations in four areas. Performance, qualified personnel, graduation and attendance rates must meet state goals.
Student performance surpasses state and federal performance goals. These goals are set by legislation to meet the expectations of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). These performance goals are in the subjects of Math, Reading, Science and Social Science. Each state mandates assessments in these subjects at designated grade levels
Qualified personnel are a key component in meeting performance standards. The state of Kansas requires that 100% of teachers are teaching in their licensed area and to hold a Kansas teaching license. St. John's Military School adhered to this policy long before it became state law.
Attendance and graduation rates are the final accreditation piece. St. John's Military School demands 100% classroom attendance every day. Graduation rates far exceed state expectations with nearly 100% of our seniors meeting graduation requirements.
