Quick Facts About St. John's Military School

Providing Structured Education for Grades 6 through 12

St. John's Military School was selected as one of the top private schools in the country by GreatSchools, as published in Business Week magazine.  St. John's was the only military school in the United States to have been given this distinction.

Most students who are enrolled in grades six, seven and eight live in barracks separate from the high school students. This allows our military advisors to develop unique programs for the younger students and develop expectations that are fair and realistic for this age group.  Both the middle school and upper school barracks have recreational facilities such as movie theaters, electronic game capabilities, etc.

Fully Accredited by Two Accrediting Agencies

St. John's is fully accredited by the North Central Association (NCA), a division of AdvancED, and theKansas State Department of Education (KSDE). St. John's Military School is one of the few private schools with state accreditation.

92% of Recent Graduates Will Attend an Institution of Higher Education

A preponderance of graduates from St. John's Military School make application to, and are accepted into, institutions of higher education in the United States and abroad. Some cadets elect to continue their education at universities or colleges, while others enroll in vocational training centers in their home cities or neighboring states.

Another option many St. John's graduates have chosen to pursue is entrance into military colleges such as The United States Military Academy at West Point, the Air Force Academy, etc.  As an "Honor Unit With Distinction", St. John's Military School may submit multiple recommendations each year on behalf of St. John's graduates to each of the military colleges.  For young men pursuing a dream of attending a military college, St. John's can help them achieve this honorable and prestigious goal.

Low Student to Teacher Ratio

St. John's Military School student to teacher ratio varies from one 8:1 to 10:1, depending upon the makeup of the student body in any given calendar year. This low ratio ensures teachers concentrate on the individual needs of their students in tailoring an educational and instructional approach based upon each student's innate ability.

JROTC Honor School with Distinction

For over thirty years, St. John's has earned the designation of Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTCHonor School with Distinction from the United States Army Command. This accomplishment is very unique and there are few educational institutions that have achieved a similar designation over the years.  This exceptional recognition illustrates not only the quality of St. Johns' education, but also the benefits of a structured environment that strongly emphasizes the achievement of personal and Cadet Corps objectives.  Congratulations to the 2011 class of the 123rd Corps of Cadets for earning a score of 999 out of a possible 1,000 (the highest score in the nation!)  St. John's is again awarded Honor School with Distinction from the United States Army Command.
